Chennai to Coimbatore Road trip:

Here i share some of my friend's travel experience from Coimbatore to Chennai via road.

Travel Idea 1:

We ventured out from Chennai to Ernakulam and back over the most recent 2 weeks in i10
While going took dhintivanam,vilupuram,Kallakurichi,attur,salem ,coimbatore,shornur, trichur street
Begun off at 3 Am (was overwhelming downpours that day) Attur to Selam and last 20 kms towards coimbatore was awful since street work is still on and need to take deviations .Reached coimbatore at 12 30 twelve. Had a stop over at coimbatore and restarted venture by 4 30 towards Palakkad. Coimbatore Palakkad street is awful and took over 1.5 hours rest of the voyage was extremely smooth
While returning I took Trichur Palakkad NH 47 and for goodness' sake kindly don't take this course . It took me 2 + hours to cover 60 odd kms Coimbatore selam Krishnagiri Chennai (Velachery) took me just 8.5 hours including one coffee break and one meal break It was outstanding amongst other drives I had, timing 140 max , generally at 100+ , averaging 60+ with breaks . Auto was steady and cool
So My proposal is to take Krishnagiri Selam, Coimbatore, Palakkad, Shornur, Trichur ,Ernakulam

Travel Idea 2:

My exp may accommodating to future perusers and others.

A week ago, I came to Chennai from Tirupur by quick. I pick the course salem, k-giri, vellore, chennai(tambaram). I drove in the speed of 90km to 120 km, 3 times break (1 coffee break, 2 lunch break(splitted)). Add up to km is 487km, 7 toll entryways cost of 390/ - and came to in 8 hrs.

Note: We should make sure on two spots to keep away from direction. 1. Prior to going into salem, need to go in ring street and 2. changing from salem-bnglre course to chennai course.


As far as my opinion instead of risking your own ride, you can book bus tickets online and have safety journey. There are more than 250 bus operators running daily from Chennai to Coimbatore.
